MGGB – This Thursday February 10th

Members

It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that Kemi Badenoch’s father has passed away. Sadly she is now unable to join us on Thursday. I have passed on our condolences and thoughts during this unbelievably difficult time for her and her family.

I am happy to say that Tom Ilube CBE has agreed to step in at such short notice.

Tom Ilube CBE is the Chair of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), CEO and founder of London based Crossword Cybersecurity plc. Tom was the Chief Information Officer of the pioneering internet bank Egg plc. He then went on to found Garlik, an identity protection company sold to Experian. His career has included Goldman Sachs, PwC and the London Stock Exchange.

Tom led Crossword in its successful admission to AIM, the growth market of the London Stock Exchange, in December 2018. He also founded the Hammersmith Academy, a state school in Hammersmith, which opened in 2011 and has become one of the UK’s “most innovative technology schools”. Tom is also a non Exec Director of WPP and was a non-Exec Director of the BBC between 2017 and 2021.

As a tech entrepreneur, educational philanthropist and now the first black chair of a major sport in England I’ve asked Tom to talk about what lies ahead in this year of Discovery and the beginning of a new decade of Transformation with a particular eye on technology.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday evening. In the meantime, our thoughts are with Kemi and her family.

Best wishes

Magnus Djaba
