MGGB – Our first dinner of the year

Hi Everyone

I trust you are all well after what proved to be such a significant week in history, and such a sad moment with the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. On behalf of the MGGB, I have sent a message of condolence and a thank you for the Queen’s lifetime of service.

I hope everybody enjoyed Wednesday’s first dinner of our season, and the irrepressible and inspiring Marcus du Sautoy. I’m so inspired to see people like Marcus share their wisdom and insight with us. He is one of those speakers where I understand half of it but love all of it. I hope you feel it was an energetic and thought-provoking start to the season.

With the historic events of last week we now turn to our October evening. And after the nation goes through its period of official mourning, the political season will commence with the party conferences and at a time of deep challenge for people and businesses across the UK. I also know how much we like having an international perspective, particularly regarding those events across the Atlantic as the midterms approach.

So I’m delighted that both Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel will be joining us directly from the close of the final party conference to be our October speakers. Finally, thank you for such a warm welcome as Chair last Wednesday. It is such an honour and here’s to a wonderful season for the MGGB.

I very much look forward to seeing you and your wonderful guests on Wednesday 5 October. My very best, Steve

Best wishes

Steve Hatch
