Our annual Christmas dinner we will be joined by Graham Norton for the evening

Dear Members,
I hope that you and your families are well.
If you were lucky enough to join us last week, I am sure you will agree that there could be few better informed, and insightful people to hear from as we entered lockdown 2.0, than Sir Jeremy Farrar. Once again, a huge thank you to Jeremy and to Sir Craig Oliver for asking the questions.
Our next event is rather fittingly planned for December 2nd when, all being well, we will be coming out of lockdown, and I am delighted to announce that for our annual Christmas dinner we will be joined by Graham Norton for the evening. The multi BAFTA award winning comedian, chat show host and DJ will for once be sat in the red chair himself and we will be set for a great night. We will also have members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra joining us, playing live, to get us in the Christmas spirit.
The MGGB traditionally donates to charity at Christmas, and I am keen to maintain this tradition. As such we will be asking members and guests to pay £20 to join us in December, for what I am sure will be a fun packed evening. This year we will be supporting arts and culture through the Royal Theatrical Fund which has partnered with Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Olivia Colman to support UK theatre professionals who have lost jobs or income in the Performing Arts. The impact on this sector through Covid-19 has been dramatic and The Stage has warned that the West End, which would normally attract 32,000 people every night to see a show, is facing “near extinction” without significant support and mitigation.
We will continue to use the Zoom platform so please can you make sure that you have the latest version running on your device. Details of how to do this are in the attached link update your Zoom app alternatively you can update directly here: https://zoom.us/support/download
So please get your Christmas jumpers ready and the champagne chilled for what promises to be a special evening of sparkle and fizz, and as always, you can book online or write to Clare.
I look forward to seeing you all on December 2nd.
Kind regards

Matt Barwell
