MGGB can make a real difference

You will have heard a lot about the tremendous success of The Invictus Games, Prince Harry’s initiative that aims to raise awareness of the capabilities of those who serve their country. It is a wonderful initiative, worthy of our support.
As a group we are not renowned for our sporting prowess, so fear not – I’m not asking members to head out onto the sports field. What we are, however, is a group of senior professionals representing dozens of big businesses and major brands. And this is how the MGGB can make a real difference.
The Royal Foundation hopes that a substantial part of the Games’ legacy will be that more of these remarkable men and women will find fulfilling new careers when they leave the armed forces. So we are creating work placements for ex service personnel giving them the all-important first step to that new career.
All we want is for you to offer a serving member of the armed forces a 2 week, unpaid placement. It will be an opportunity for these remarkable men and women to see what working in different industries is like, to start to build a professional network, and to understand just how transferable their skills really are.
Service personnel have been trained in the kind of values that all businesses need: respect, loyalty, discipline, selflessness and integrity. They also have strong decision making, management and negotiating skills, and the ability to influence people. Your business will benefit immeasurably.
This is an opportunity for the marketing, media and creative community to demonstrate real vision, helping to foster both new ambitions and new careers. It could also, of course, be a powerful part of your corporate responsibility commitments.
I do hope you can sign up. Let me know – andria.vidler@centaur.co.uk
Very best wishes,
