Well, the political scene may have radically changed since our dinner last Wednesday but rest assured the MGGB remains your reliable and dependable friend as we merrily canter into the final events of the season.
How appropriate in these uncertain times that our next dinner has a thoroughly spiritual dimension as we will be joined by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the Archbishop of Westminster.
Vincent Nichols was ordained a priest in 1969 for the Archdiocese of Liverpool in 2000, and having successfully progressed through the church was created Cardinal by Pope Francis on 22 February, 2014.
Cardinal Nichols will be talking about the challenges facing a multi faith society and the role of leadership in the church in the context of a very new direction set by Pope Francis. He will reference his perspective on spiritual versus business leadership, how organisations can win the right to operate by serving society, crisis management, and equality in senior roles and an initiative to unite corporate purpose and personal values to support society. These are some of the biggest questions in business today and I know Cardinal Nichols will provide a unique perspective. Cardinal Nichols is the author of three books, he provided the commentary for the worldwide BBC coverage of the death of Pope John Paul II and the Installation of Pope Benedict XVI and is an avid Liverpool FC supporter.
I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 3rd June – I suspect this will be a very popular event so do book now via the website or with Clare.
For the final dinner of the season in July our special guest will be David Dinsmore, editor of The Sun. It will then be time for me to retire gracefully, handing over the MGGB reins to my successor. I’m delighted that one of adland’s ‘big beasts’, Robert Senior, will be your Chair for 2015/16. Robert is now Worldwide CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi having co-founded the renowned agency Fallon London. I am confident he’ll make a wonderful Chair.
I have two requests for you – firstly please respond to the ‘Survey Monkey’ that will be dropping into your inboxes soon. Your input will be critical to Robert, Council and Clare as we shape next season. Secondly, please let us have your suggestions for new members: we want to continue to attract the best and the brightest to the group.
That’s it. I’ll look forward to seeing you on Wednesday June 3rd.
Very best wishes
Andria
