2022 – The Year of Discovery

Dear Members

Firstly, may I wish you and your families a Happy New Year. I am aware that so many among us will have had some form of disruption to our holiday plans due to Omicron. I sincerely hope that despite this you managed to spend quality time with loved ones.

As we enter 2022, I feel we must all look forward with hope. Analysts are describing 2022 as the Year of Discovery. The year where we discover our true “New Normal” after two years of lockdowns, openings and lockdowns. As a result, it will be the beginning of a decade of true transformation, something we as a community will look to be at the forefront of.

On the topic of people at the forefront, I wanted to say a huge congratulations to David Wheldon who deservedly received an OBE in the New Year’s Honours List. I couldn’t be more pleased for David. His achievements are only matched by his generosity. A past Chair who has been there to support every Council and Chair since. “Chapeau” Mr Wheldon.

We start this year with Kemi Badenoch MP as our February speaker. Kemi is the Minister for Equalities. Kemi is outspoken and far away from ‘Woke’ culture. She believes her mission is to Level Up not Level Down. Unfortunately, due to a Parliamentary vote on 2nd February we have had to move the date of our dinner to 10th February.

The dress code is black tie and will commence at 7pm for our usual champagne reception.

Below is the following menu for the evening:-

Starter: Serrano ham, charentaise melon chutney, balsamic nasturtium
Main: Pave of salmon, lemon verbena nage razor clam, sea beet, buckwheat
Desert: Vanilla baked Alaska, blood orange and rhubarb

Please let Charlotte or Liv know if you have any dietary requirements.

I look forward to seeing you then. In the meantime, all the best for January, whatever your resolutions.

Best wishes
