Dear Members,
It was great to see many of you at our June dinner. It turned out to be rather different to the one we had planned with the Rt. Hon Lisa Nandy. Lisa was called away following the snap election announcement and at the very last-minute Piers Morgan stepped in. For those of you who were not able to be with us, Piers gave us an excellent overview on the election, Trump and his conviction, and the latest news on Farage. There were lots of juicy insights but sadly I can’t share those here!
Next month it will be my final dinner as your Chair, it has been a complete pleasure and I’m delighted to say that the last speaker in my season, Shirine Khoury Haq is going to be fabulous! Thanks to Stevie Spring for helping us secure Shirine.
Shirine is the CEO for the COOP Group, probably one of the oldest and most complex British Businesses. Shirine was previously at Lloyd’s of London. Shirine will talk to us about her continuing plans for expansion at the COOP and how she relishes the challenge after a life that has made her an expert in overcoming adversity.
The rest of this month will also be busy, I look forward to seeing our Emeritus members at the Ivy Club on Wednesday of this week and I hope to see many of you at our members only drinks at Diageo on the 27th June.
Thank to everyone who has shared ideas and feedback throughout my season, I’m sure that Alessandra will value the same encouragement that you have given me!
Best regards,
Jess
