November Dinner extra event

Dear Members,
First, a reminder to book your places for November’s dinner, when our speaker is James Timpson, Chief Executive of Timpson. Chief Executive of this family business for more than 15 years, James has a unique story to tell of retail innovation and of a progressive approach to hiring and getting the best out of the company’s people, with a policy of recruitment straight from prison. Details are available on the website, where bookings can also be made. Alternatively, do write to Clare.
I have a further announcement for November 7th. Before we convene for our formal dinner, we have an opportunity to hear from Carolyn Everson, VP of Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook, in conversation with Keith Weed, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at Unilever. More detail is attached. This event will take place in The Mirror Room at Claridges from 5:30pm. Places are limited and will be allocated first to MGGB members and guests attending the dinner. I suggest early booking via the website!
I’m also delighted to announce our programme for our dinner on December 5th, when we have a festive double bill. We’ll be hearing the fine voice of Aled Jones MBE, the Welsh singer and presenter and we’ll also be hearing from Caroline Casey, the Irish activist and founder of Kanchi, which aims to improve the treatment of disability. Aled rose to fame in the 1980s following his performance of “Walking in the Air” for “The Snowman” and has pursued a career as breakfast TV and radio presenter. Caroline’s story of overcoming visual disability has led her to become a serial social entrepreneur and TED speaker. We’re in for a very special evening and we are taking bookings now.
Our programme for the season is also attached. You’ll see we have a star line-up, featuring Jacob Rees-Mogg, Dame Carolyn McCall, Mike Coupe, James Harding and Paula Nickold. More details will follow in due course.
I look forward to seeing you all in Claridge’s next month on November 7th.
Best wishes,
Phil Smith
