Sir Malcolm Walker – November dinner review

Dear members
We had a great turn out for our November dinner, where Sir Malcolm Walker was our guest speaker. A founder’s story is always compelling. And Sir Malcolm proved to be both refreshingly honest about the up’s and downs of his career, as well as highly entertaining- particularly on the subject of advertising pitches! He also had some pertinent points to make about investing for the long term.
Christmas is fast approaching and our sell out dinner next week is sure to get us all in the festive mood. As is our tradition you can expect some musical entertainment, a delicious Claridge’s Christmas dinner and some great conversation. But of course, the highlight of our evening will be our very special guest speaker.
The inspirational Idris Elba OBE- actor, director, musician, DJ will be in conversation with DJ and broadcaster Edith Bowman. He will be discussing his career, how he balances all his professional interests, as well as his work promoting diversity and supporting young people through the Princes Trust.
As we have a packed evening we need to make some changes to our usual timings. We will be making an earlier start, with drinks in the Ballroom from 6.30. Dinner will be called at 7.15 and I am asking for your help in making the evening run smoothly, by responding promptly to Barry’s call. For those of you bringing guests could you please advise them of the earlier start. And make sure that they are aware of our Chatham House rules.
Many thanks for your cooperation and I look forward to a truly wonderful evening. It’s going to be an MGGB cracker!
Best wishes,
Best wishes
