Dear Members,
It was great to see such a strong turn-out last night for what turned out to be a stunning evening. Aled Jones performed an incredible arrangement of “Walking in the Air”, as he accompanied the soundtrack of his younger self. Caroline Casey delivered an electrifying call for business to get behind the #valuable movement and pledge to bring disability to the board agenda in 2018 – and was rewarded with our second standing ovation of the season.
We announced last night our programme for February and March next year. On February 6th, our guest speaker after dinner will be Jacob Rees-Mogg, Member of Parliament for North East Somerset and arch-Brexiteer. While little else is certain, we can be sure of a lively evening. Our speaker on Wednesday, March 6th is our own Dame Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of ITV. We’ll want to hear from Carolyn about her plans for ITV and the broadcast landscape, which of course is in the midst of momentous change.
Returning to the Brexit theme, we have a special, members-plus-one breakfast at Claridges on Tuesday, March 12th. Our guest will be Philip Rycroft, Permanent Secretary for the Department for Exiting the EU, who will have a unique perspective on whatever scenario we find ourselves facing at the time. All three events can be booked from the website, or by contacting Clare.
Finally, to remind you that we have established a private LinkedIn group for members who wish to communicate with each other and receive Club notifications. You will need a LinkedIn account to be able to join. Do follow this link to apply for membership of the group.
I look forward to seeing you all in 2019.
Wishing you all a fine Christmas break,
Best wishes,
Phil Smith
