Dear Members of the Marketing Group of Great Britain,
I’m delighted to be writing to you for the first time as your Chair for the 2019-20 season.
I know you will all want to join me in offering a huge thank you to Phil Smith, who has delivered an outstanding season of speakers with a wonderful spirit and good humour. Last week’s dinner with the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Theresa May MP was a spectacular way to end the season.
As ever, great thanks must also go to Clare Russell, who continues to do a wonderful job running the Club. And, on an admin point, XEIM are very kindly updating and reprinting the MGGB Directory for us this year so please can I ask you all to check and update your biogs (and photos, if necessary).
Our 2019-20 season will begin on Wednesday, September 4th with the Formula 1 Managing Director of Motorsports, Ross Brawn OBE. Ross is a legend in the world of motor racing and the most successful and innovative Technical Director in Formula 1 history. He has won 22 World FIA Championships and the Le Mans 24 Hours. He has been a Technical Director, a Team Owner and a Team Principal and is now part of the Liberty Media management team re-inventing the sport for a new generation. He will be in conversation with David Croft from SKY and it promises to be a fascinating evening. I am pleased to say that booking is now open, either online or via Clare.
The rest of the season is taking shape; Seb James, President and Managing Director of Boots follows on in October. Lord Hall of Birkenhead, Director-General of the BBC, Tim Warrillow of Fever-Tree, Paula Nickolds of John Lewis and Dame Stephanie Shirley the tech pioneer are all confirmed for the New Year. Details of these and other events will follow in due course. As a reminder, the 2019-2020 Dinner dates are appended below.
Club subscriptions are once again £300 + VAT for members, and £200 +VAT for Emeritus members. Subs are due in August and invoices will be sent via the website for immediate payment.
I wish you all a great summer and look forward to seeing you in September for what I hope will be another brilliant season.
Best wishes,
Kerris Bright
